Planning Tools: Publicity
Make a splash and do a publicity blitz with your local media outlets!
Announce or recap your PhUn Week event to the public.
For teachers, a press release
can announce your exciting PhUn Week event to neighborhood newspapers.
Teachers and principals are encouraged to tip off
the education reporter/photographer a week
before the APS member visits the classroom or school.
Download and customize the APS Press Release PhUn Week template.
After customizing your press release,
send it to your community newspapers!
For APS members, a press release
can highlight your community service efforts to your university
and/or local newspapers before or after the outreach visit to the classroom.
This is a simple mechanism to generate awareness for the significance
of physiology research and science education for the general public and students.
Download and customize the APS Press Release PhUn Week template.
After customizing your Press Release,
send it to your department or university communications office!
Taking pictures of your event with students and the visiting team of presenters?
Share your photographs with the APS for possible publication in print or on the APS webpages.
Be sure to have a parent/guardian of minors and adults complete and sign a Photo Release Form
for photographs that include people. Candid, engaging, interactive,
and hands-on "action" shots are the most appealing.
Want to share? If your event receives publicity in a newspaper and
for photographs that you wish to share with the APS,
please submit them by email, fax, or postal mail to:
